Hello,

I am trying to design a Fieldbus segment by using the P+F FieldBarriers. Can anybody tell me about the limitation on using number of FieldBarriers on a single segment? Can I use more than four P+F FieldBarriers on a segment?

Many Thanks in advance………….

Regards,
Sandip ....:)

Hello Sandip,

The limit of FieldBarriers on a Segment is 4 giving you the possibility to connect 16 field instruments. That is normally enough for a FF segment where you have also other limitations for the number of instruments in one segment (e. g. cycle time). The reason for this limitaion is the input impedance of those type of barriers.

A great tool to help you designing you a segment is the Segmentchecker. It is available at www.segmentchecker.com (http://www.segmentchecker.com) It automatically checks for such issues, as well as cable length, current consumption etc.
