 We are installing some BuSwitch on/off valves on a Foxboro IA system. Whenever we disconnect the communication wires from the valves and then try to reconnect them, they will not come back on line without removing other devices and then reconnecting them on the segment. Anyone else use these valves and what are your experiences with them? These are the only devices behaving like this on the segments.
Thanks,
Lee

Is this the only segment with the Buswitch valves on it? Have you done any "physical layer" diagnostics, like using an oscilloscope, an FBT-3 or FBT-6, or a P+F ADM?

I am not familiar with how Invensys does addressing now - my neighbors' system required them to pre-address all the devices, like you'd do in Profibus PA. Are you having to do this with your system? It could be that the Link Master's method for reinstating a previously commissioned device is not playing well with Flowserve.

I have one of the "Buswitch" devices that's been installed since about 2001 or so, connected to DeltaV. We have not experienced any communication / commissioning problems with it.

Yes we have checked all of the segments with a FBT-6. We have approximately 60 of these valves scattered throughout the system.

We don't have to pre-address devices but Invensys handles FF differently than any of the others I've seen. One of the biggest differences is the LAS resides in the FBM which is the equivalent of the H1 card in a DeltaV instead of in the FF devices.

As of today we have the Invensys people and the Flowserve people actively working together on the problem.

Thanks for the response,
Lee
