Hello everyone,

I already read some threads concerning FISCO/non-FISCO devices, but I'm not sure about this.
Does anyone have an experience of using non-FISCO on-off valve controller in FISCO segment (with power conditioner 9121-IS)?
I got information that Topworx non-FISCO DVCs have been used in FISCO segments (large installations) successfully. I got this information from supplier, so I would like to hear if someone else has done this... (or with some other device)

Ps. Of course it would be better to have the certificate..

Of course it is working but the question is: is it intrinsically safe?
If you connect a non-FISCO approved slave to a FISCO segment, that segment is not FISCO since that time...
Does the non-FISCO device have IS protection?

Many Intrinsically Safe fieldbus installations have selected to use FISCO power supplies as this usually provides the most cost effective fieldbus installation. Most IS certified fieldbus devices are now FISCO certified, however, some devices, such as the valve you mention, are not.

In projects around the world that have selected MTL 9121-IS FISCO power supply and some field devices are not FISCO certiifed, then a 9321-SC entity spur connector has been included in the junction box to ensure the safety descriptions of the fieldbus and device are compatible and make sure the system is safe.

Similarly where an MTL 9122-IS FISCO power supply is used with a device that is not FISCO certified, then a 9323-SC entity spur connector is used.

Thank you for your answers!

Of course devices will be I.S. certified. Luckily we have very restricted amount of on-off valves, so this entity spur connector might be a solution for us. I didn't know that there are such things... Then we have more alternatives for on-off controllers.
