----- April 23 ----Hi all,Which are the best maker of Power Suplier (PS) for the segments H1 ofFieldbus Foundation??? greetings, Freddy PCE.Freddy del Toro [Verhappen, Ian] I am aware of Power Supplies from Relcom, MTL,Weidmueller, Smar, and I think Phoenix Contact. Any I added or missed?- - - April 26 - - -Supposedly Fisher-Rosemount has redundant H1 power integrated with their newredundant H1 cards, but you should check me on that . . . I haven'tpersonally verified this. Hawke http://www.hawke-cable-glands.com/field/ hassome very interesting looking power supplies as well. The only ones I knoware dual-redundant are from Relcom and Hawke.I prefer the dual-redundant segment power conditioners for mission-criticalsegments. I would use them for all segments if they were less expensive. I'musing a quasi-dual-redundant segment power conditioner made for my projectby Fisher-Rosemount; all of the "active" components are redundant, but someof the passive devices . . . inductors, resistors, diodes, for example . . .are not redundant.Relcom's dual-redundant conditioners are a little nicer. Aside from thebackplane, I'm not aware of any component that isn't backed up. Theirconditioners are hot-swappable (bumpless) and you get a dry contact outputwhen any supply fails. I have two (pair) in service at the moment. If Icould afford it / justify it, I would use these on all segments. All of these power conditioners put off a fair amount of heat, so keep thatin mind when you lay them out. I would avoid shoe-horning them into a tinyenclosure.John Rezabekrezabejd@bp.com- - - - - - - InterlinkBT also makes a conditioner.Herman Storey- - - - - Last week I visited the DeltaV site and received a first hand demonstrationof DeltaV's redundant H1 followed by a pretty lengthy discussion with GaryLaw, FRS DeltaV I/O product manager. I've already written this up as a newproduct release to appear in an upcoming issue of Control Engineering. Thereis also a live video on http://www.easydeltav.com site. Redundant H1 forDeltaV is real and FRS is within weeks of being ready to ship product.Dave Harrold, senior editorControl Engineering- - - Dave,This is nothing very new.Smar has had a system running for two years with redundant power and powerconditioners on the same segment. They also have redundant interfaces on each segment. The biggest advantage is that the redundant units are on opposite ends ofthe segment. This is the only way to provide complete safety if the segment is severed. If you are interested in seeing this site contact me at bill.tatum@smar.comThanks BT- - - - Dear All,The bus power supply and impedance can be integrated within the linkingdevice in a single unit supporting multiple networks. Minimizing thefootprint, part count, wiring and documentation. Two of these can be put inparallel to achieve complete redundancy of communications as well as thepower supply. Primary and secondary completely separated not even sharingbackplane reducing common cause failures. Diagnostics detect shorts and lossof power.BTW: The Smar SYSTEM302 linking device DFI302 does just that supporting 4 *16 instruments per 1.4 kg box and is field proven.Best Regards,Jonas Berge
