We recently acquired a FIM 3420. I'm trying to test it's control capabilities now but I can't get it to access the DVC 5000f or DVC 6000f valves that are attached. Both valves are visible on the segment but I can't access the function blocks. I downloaded the DD to no avail. Can anyone help me understand what I'm doing wrong or give me some suggestions?
Thanks

Why no answers or help on this problem? I can really use some help on this issue.
Thank you.

Can you tell me what version of the 3420 you are using? You can find this throught the web interface under Diagnostics->Client/Server.
I assume you are seeing that both devices are attached by looking at the Diagnostics->Fieldbus Segments page and/or on the Explorer.

2.3.19 (the latest version)
Yes, I can see them on the segment. A call to the Emerson GSC got me the latest DD which I downloaded for the DVC 5000 successfully. I'm still having problems with the other valve though. Just for my own benefit, what are the identifiers for an On/Off vavle vs. a control valve? Both are 5000 series. Thanks.

Any updated DD/CFF files should be available from the Foundation's website, in the registered product catalog:

All vendors should be updating their files with the Foundation.

tpatterson,
Once you have the proper DD loaded you should be able to see all the blocks. If you are viewing via the web interface "Explorer" and you don't see a "+" sign next to the block then you will need to go to another page to enable the block. You would navigate to Setup->Fieldbus->Blocks and when you find the block that you would like "Enabled", make sure the check box in the "Enable Block" column is selected. Then select the "Submit" button and the block should now appear with a "+" sign in the Explorer.
One other thing to note if you are in the Setup->Fieldbus->Blocks page you may want to give the blocks of interest unique block names since many of the other interfaces (Modbus, OPC, etc.) use the block names for mapping parameters.
