Hi all,
I have very little information on Fieldbus system.
Hope we could share some of the info here.
I have an enquiry where the customer is looking for Fieldbus cable with fire resistant properties to IEC60331-21.
Is it feasible to have fieldbus system for fire alarm system?
Hope everyone can input lots of info here...
Thanks in advance.

The best place to look for Fieldbus compliant cable is from the approved cable manufacturers on the Foundation site at http://www.fieldbus.org/index.php?option=com_mtree&task=search&Itemid=324&ffbstatus=Registered&ffbmfg=&ffbcategory=Cable should get you started.

If you are referring to a SIL-rated (safety) application: SIL-rated FF products are not yet available, so that a questions for cable is meaningless.
If you are referring to a general purpose application without a SIL rating: yes, all FF cable manufacturers also offer you cables according to low smoke/Zero smoke, halogen-free, etc etc.
Ask the cable manufacturers (Northwire, Belden, Lapp, Leoni-Kerpen, etc etc) for details.

In addition to Andreas' comment about SIL abilities the good news is that because SIF uses a black channel, you will be able to use the same physical layer products (cable, power supply, device couplers) for a safety related system as for your conventional H1 network.
