Hi,

I am currently studying about Firmware upgrade/Software Download for an FF Device. I have following doubts,

1) Can we download entire binary image from .ffd file in one shot to domain?
2) If "NO" is the answer for the above doubt, how to segment the data to be downloaded, I mean on what basis (based on bytes limit or is there a defined procedure for this?)
3) Any better tutorial or documents related to FMS Generic Services other than the current FF Spec.

Any kind of input/answer will be helpful.

Thanks in advance,

Regards
Shankar.

From my interpretation of the specification (FF-883-1.2), how the manufacturer divides up the binary is up to the manufacturer. However, the maximum size message on H1 is 256 octets, so I would assume the download would take a few transmissions to complete. HSE would not have such a small message size, and would probably send/download with one message. Objects are added to the SMIB to control the download.

H1 ITK 5.0 has test cases to check Common Software Download support in an H1 field device.

Heather,

Can u provide a link where FFD files for a device can be downloaded?

I downloaded some firmware files from www.smar.com (http://www.smar.com) and Honeywell. They are totally different and not as specified in FF specification.
